Federal Jury Finds Menendez Guilty of Bribery

Robert Menendez, a Democratic U.S. Senator from New Jersey, has been convicted on all 16 criminal counts in a federal bribery case. The charges stemmed from a long-running corruption investigation involving bribes allegedly received from a wealthy donor named Salomon Melgen. This conviction marks the first time a sitting U.S. Senator has been found guilty of bribery charges since 1980.

Menendez, who has denied any wrongdoing, faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. The Senator's attorneys have announced their intention to appeal the verdict.
